Tights

Don't judge me... I'm a stay at home mom who loves tights... How can I not?  They're just so comfortable and basically goes with anything that's long enough to cover your bottom and with whatever shoes you want to throw on.  They're my go-to item when I don't feel like dressing up, but still have to look decent to go out in public. While walking around in this park, we saw some beautiful spring flowers as well.  They were just so lovely... reminds me again that God is the most talented artist of all.

Five - steps to color block nails

Today, I have a special how-to for you, beautiful bloggers: pastel watermelon color block nails with a little glitter!  (quite a name, huh?)  One of the trends that's been going on is color blocking on all sorts of clothing items.  Here, I'll show you how to get the same effect with your nail polish.
1.  put on base coat (not shown)
2. put on 3 layers of the colors you chose (I alternated the colors on my nails)
3. after the polish is dried, stick these hole reinforcements
on the nails you want to have color blocking. (about half way)
 4. using the other color that is not already on the nail,
paint the top part of the nails above the hole reinforcements.
(note: take the reinforcements off before the second color is completely dried.)
5. put on top coat.  (I used the glitter polish this time.)
And there... your nails are complete!!  I didn't notice till now,
but don't my nails look festive for Easter?  :)  and wasn't that easy?
Thanks for stopping by, everyone!  Have a blessed weekend!!

Panko crusted mini turkey patties

I tend to cook very often with ground turkey instead of beef, pork, or even chicken.  I feel that it has the least fat and is just a healtier choice than the other protein.  My one year old baby loves to eat anything and everything, and this dish is no exception!  Here is my very first post on a recipe.  Hope you all will enjoy~!!!

DIY Ribbon Ring

Thank you all for such great compliments on this fabric flower from last week.  While looking through pinterest, I came across a creative way to make another kind of flower.  (I have no idea who's idea this was... please please forgive me for not being able to credit the owner.  If you know who came up with this, please let me know!)  This time, I'm using ribbons to make a ring, worn here
Ta-da~  All done!  Here's a sneak peek for next week's diy:

Oldie but a goodie

This whole outfit is old... I don't even remember buying the blouse and the pants, and I know the clutch is even older.  I do the extreme opposite of what pack rats do; I throw things away for fun (throw meaning donate).  When I buy anything new, I have to donate anything old.  However, the items in this outfit, I really couldn't give away.  I probably wear this blouse and pants once a year, but they're just so classic I feel like I might miss them if they're gone.

Getting old

I've never really been into pearls, but lately, they have been catching my attention.  I think I always interpreted them as 'old'.  Does this mean I'm getting old in my own eyes?  Probably... my achy back and neck tell me so anyway... Well, I knew I wanted a necklace of some sort, but I didn't want the long classic ones.  So, I made myself a collar.  (the how-to coming soon!)  I think it being a collar makes it more youthful... what do you think?

Five

It's Friday again, people!! I'm a stay at home mom so days shouldn't really matter too much to me, but somehow it still does. I still look forward to the weekends when bb and I get to spend lots of time with John.  He is such a great dad to bb and helps me tremendously when he's home.  I gotta say, I have a it good... very very good... :D  Now, onto today's five:
1.  It's officially spring!  Which means boot sales like crazy!!!  Whoo hoo!  I think I own like 12 pairs of boots, but I don't care... I bought another pair from ninewest for $50!!  A pretty darn good deal if you ask me!
2.  Bb got this little octo-guy as one of his birthday presents, and he just adores him.  We named him Oscar the octopus.  Oscar sings to bb and attempts to blow bubbles (and fails every time) during his bath times.  The bubbles don't work, but the singing and the lights totally grab his attention.
3.  Yes, these are Cuties... the very best/healthy/easy snack for me and bb.  Always sweet with no seeds... never fails to please us both.  I had about 7 before bed last night... fruit calories are healthy in my book ;)
4. It's close to 80 degrees in Texas, and we have our fireplace on each morning... why?  Because birds apparently think that our chimney is their personal stage to sing.  Seriously, we have birds every morning chirping and squaking!!  Sorry, birds, but we gotta get you off our chimney somehow... **note to all animal lovers: we promise we don't hurt the birds in anyway... they just simply fly away**
5.  So bad of me, but I don't regularly clean my makeup brushes.  First, because I don't wear makeup everyday and don't really use these too often and second, probably because I forget or because I'm just lazy... Today, I have clean brushes and they DO make a difference in how your makeup feels.  People say to clean them at least once a week, which I'm going to do from now!

I hope you all have a fun and happy weekend! Thanks for coming by!! :D

DIY Fabric Flowers - sash, broaches

So, like everyone else out there, I totally adore jcrew.  Jcrew has the most classic items that can be worn year after year without being boring.  Online, I saw this sash and thought how expensive!!! and that I could probably make one myself for fraction of the price.  I know it looks like it's made for a bride, but with color, it could be used on skirts and cute dresses during this spring season!  So, I purchased some fabric and made a sash and evem a couple of braoches.  I wore this peach broach here.
I found some 'vintage-ish' looking buttons and super affordable gems from Joann.
I also purchased 2 inches each of different color fabric.
You'll need safety pins (if you want broaches) and ribbons (for a sash).

Tuesday Ten - sick baby remedies

Ahhhh... bb is sick with a cold... this is his 3rd cold, and it's just as heartbreaking as it was the very first time.  He is snotty, coughing, feverish, and definitely is having a hard time sleeping.  I'm so confused... he wants me to hold him but whines when I do, then when I put him down, he cries even louder.  So, for today's Tuesday ten, I wanted to post about what mommies can do to make their babies feel better.
1. I don't work for this company or have any sort of affiliation, but I just love love love Nosefrida!!  It is the world's best invention (next to sliced bread).  It sounds gross at first (you suck the baby's snot with your mouth), but I promise, you won't get any snot in your mouth.  Seriously, try it!

2. We actually turn on cold humidifier in bb's room each night even if he's not sick, but when he is, we crank it up to make a thick fog in the air.

3. These boogie wipes have saline in it so it's less invasive than the saline drops and wipes away his snot easily.

4. The most basic first aid kit is the thermometer.  Babies usually get their temperature checked through their bottom, but bb is old enough for these now.  Whew~

5. One of the best buys in his room is the rocking chair.  We used it to feed him bottles when he was younger and is totally necessary for snuggling time when he's not feeling well.

6. A home remedy for a sick baby is to fill the bathtub with hot hot water and letting the baby breathe in the steam (do NOT put the baby in the hot water!)  We don't want to waste water by doing this, so we just make sure with a bath thermometer that his bath water is nice and warm (but not too hot) especially when he is sick.

7. I've never tried saline drops, but I hear some great things about it.  Maybe when bb's nose is stuffed up...

8. This is a Korean thing... but barley tea is like the cure for every illness baby related.  I really don't know what's so great about it, but I make the tea like I would any other tea and add it to bb's cold water.  The water is then lukewarm and has a slight barley taste.  This is supposedly the best medicine for babies with diarrhea.

The last two items are not sold in stores, but you  definitely will need these to care of a whiney snotty baby.
9. love (not sold)
10. patience (not sold)

Our pedi told me most babies go through 6 colds/year until they are 3 yrs old.  Considering, I'm so grateful bb is healthy, but man... it does not make it any easier when he does get sick... :(  Here's to hoping he will get over it soon!!!!!

Watercolor

Today is the first day wearing a short skirt this year.  This picture reminds me that my legs desperately need a tan... now!  I bought this skirt years ago at forever21 for about $20 and worn it just once before.  I forgot how comfortable it is despite the fact that it's highwaisted and has a snug elastic bottom (to prevent from pulling a Marilyn Monroe on a windy day).  I do remember how much I loved the cool watercolor design; this skirt just might make it as one of my go-to pieces for this season!

Denim on denim

I'm not trying to repeat what Justin and Britney did in the early 2000's, but I think I really like this look of denim on denim.  A couple of rules apply in wearing this style:  the top and bottom denim have to be in different shades, and a couple of accessories is a must!  Do you say yea or nay to this look?
