Pretty girlie

I guess I can describe my fashion style as pretty classic.  I'm not really into trends, and I usually don't go for very girlie looks.  Not too sure if this open-knit sweater and this watercolor skirt is considered 'girlie', but I can say it's girlier than what I would usually find in my closet.  I'm totally in love with the outfit because this is as comfortable as skirts and sweaters can get.  The skirt has an elastic waist and pockets for goodness sake!  Love it!!

ps.  happy last day of April!!  I can't believe 4 months of this year is already gone!!!

LBD for a fun GNO

I haven't had a girl's night out in such a long time, but last night, I went out and had some fun.  John stayed home and watched bb (which I am always grateful for) while I had great food, music, and chitter chatter time with the most fun girls I know.  For most gno's, I would wear skinny jeans and a cute blouse, but I felt like I'd dress up a little more and wore my one and only little black dress.

A gno should always consist of great food.  Here are some things we ate last night.
(notice I said 'some', not all...I'm still full!)
1. Tuna 'burger' from Whiskey Cake.  So delicious!!
2. Whiskey cake from Whiskey Cake.  OMG even more delicious than the entree.
3. Korean style chicken with sauce.  By this time, I was stuffed, but I still managed to get 2 down!
4. Rice based alcohol.  Couldn't really get into it, but now I can say that I've tried it.

Four

Today, I have a special Friday five... It's not a five, but a four!  <-- that's what's special about it  :)  May 13 is Mother's day, and this year, I am super excited.  Technically, last year was my very first Mother's day, but I don't really even remember due to sleep deprevation and stressing over a newborn baby.  Wow... I seriously have to ask John what we did for Mother's day because I am sitting here trying to remember (as I'm typing this) what we did, but cannot think of one thing!  John already got me a Mother's day gift, but I've also planned a fun spa day with my mom which I totally cannot wait for!!  For today's four, I have made a list of gifts that any mom would appreciate.

1.  I'm totally in love with tulips lately.  Tulip arrangements are available at most flower shops.
2. This is actually the necklace John got me for Mother's day this year!  I already received it in J, and am totally loving it!!  Isn't my hubby so stinkin' adorable!!??  :)  I'm so blessed!
3. Speaking of spas... what better way to spoil your mama or yourself than with these bath creme?  They look almost good enough to eat!!
4. I don't know about you, but just looking at this mixer makes me happy.  So sad I don't bake because that would actually justify the purchase, right?

Well, there you go.  Be good to your mamas and to yourselves this coming Mother's day!  Love love!!!  Happy weekend, you lovely bloggers!! <3

Chicken pot pie cupcakes

This isn't my original recipe, but once I saw this, I had to try it.  I also tweaked it a little (see below).  Chicken pot pie is the epitome of comfort food, but I have no idea how to make the 'real' one.  Well, just look how cute these are!!  John and bb loved it, and it was easy enough for me to make and enjoy as well.

The original recipe (link above) called for herbs de provence, but I
substituted with some regular grilled seasoning.
I also used real (very finely chopped) galic instead of garlic salt.
Instead of regular biscuits, try the wheat!

That's it!  Yum Yum!  Enjoy!!!

ps.  My 'anthro necklace' has been featured on 2 blogs this week!
This totally makes my day! :)  Thank you ladies!!

DIY - ring holder

Of course I'm going to have to go and make myself a ring holder because all of my other jewelry had a home while my rings cluttered my night stand.  So here it is!  Enjoy!! :D

Supplies (just in case you can't see on the pic):
lace
a small wooden box
white paint and foam brush
foam

Ta-da!  That's it!  Super easy and fast.  There is no sneak peek at next week's DIY today because I haven't made anything yet, but there will be a delicious and fun recipe post tomorrow!  Thanks for visiting!  Come back soon!

The blazer

A blazer really can give an outfit a different feel; I guess the word I'm looking for is 'formal'.  Ever since I became a mommy, I feel weird showing off my jiggly pasty arms eventhough I always had these jiggly pasty arms to show off during the warmer seasons.  I feel I have to cover up somehow esp. when going to church.  Today, I opted for this gray blazer along with this silky racer back blouse underneath.  Maybe after I work out a little and build some mommy muscles, I'll feel more comfortable sleeveless.

Weekend wear

I love it when I have a free weekend with no specific plans or schedule... well, that rarely ever happens anymore now that the weekends are even busier than the weekdays.  Just because the schedule is busy, doesn't mean what I wear can't be easy.  (ha!  I'm a poet and I didn't know it! :P)Today's outfit is just easy breezy and super comfy.  With this laid back sweater, torn up boyfriend jeans, and a high messy bun, I'm ready for another weekend adventure!

Colored denim

So, everyone and their mamas are wearing this colored denim trend.  I actually purchased these pants a couple of years ago (I guess you can say I was ahead of my time :P), and am enjoying them each spring and summer season.  I'm not the one to follow a trend much, but I sure do love how this bright coral (pink in picture) brings life to my outfit!

Five

Here we are on another Friday!  This week has been much better than last considering bb has been in a better mood and is finding some courage to walk holding our hands.  We're also thinking about sending him to a mothers day out program which is like a mini-daycare (for those of you without kiddos).  I didn't think I would be, but I was already sad filling out the program's registration sheets.  I can't believe how fast these last 13 months flew by, and this just really reminds me that nothing is forever.  His tiny baby stages flew by before my eyes, and this whiney teething stage will also pass.  Then all of a sudden, John and I will be busy bussing bb around to his sports games, school, and friends' houses.  God is teaching me once again to be thankful for even these moments when bb is driving me crazy with his clingy whiney crying tantrums because they too will pass by quickly, and one day, I'll miss it.  Ok. wow... this post is becoming a little too sentimental.  *whew!*  Shall we move onto my Friday Five?  :)

1.  Have you tried these?  Because if you haven't, do so now.  They're super crispy and delish!
2. We ordered a new cook book online, and I have yet to use it, but seems promising.
3. My first blue shoes!  Aren't they just fanta-bu-lous?  Can't wait to wear them out!
4. Speaking of shoes, how cute are bb's new kicks?  We're trying them out when we go play at the playground in our neighborhood, but we can't wait til he actually runs around in these!
5. Our new basket from Ikea that holds all of bb's toys downstairs.  Functional and pretty!

That is all for this Friday, everyone.  Thanks again for visiting my blog, and have a blessed weekend!!!

Fish stew

We are so blessed that bb, who is now 13 1/2 months old, basically eats everything that we eat.  In order to have balanced meals (especially for bb), fish has to be one of the things I cook.  Honestly, I'm afraid to cook with fish or any type of protein that comes out of the ocean.  I don't know why, I just am... Well, I found this fish stew recipe on pinterest and thought it looked easy enough to try.  I kind of tweaked it a little to make it my own.  I'm so glad I tried this because it turned out to be a total hit with bb and John.

DIY anthro necklace

Anthropologie is one of my very favorite stores... It's mandatory to walk into it even if I don't have anything to buy from there.  The last time I was in, I saw this necklace and thought how simple and fun it looked.  The color just popped, and I liked that it was a pretty good size and not so dainty.  But of course, the price tag that read $78 was no bueno.  So, I decided to make my own using sculpey and velvet ribbon.

What do you think?  My husband was so impressed that I saved close to $70 making this necklace instead of purchasing it.  :D  I think I may even like mine better than the original!

Here's a sneak peek at next week's DIY:
