Sweater maxi

{dress - nordstrom // scarf - uo (old) // earrings - anthropologie // shoes - nine west}

Hi all!  With the weather in the 50s-60s, I got to bust out my infinity scarf and this sweater maxi.  The dress isn't made for expecting mothers... actually, I got it online from the junior category from norstrom.  One reader asked last week why I try to avoid maternity clothes.  I guess I just don't think they're as attractive as 'normal' people clothes.  So, I'd rather spend the money to buy stretchy 'normal' clothes than on maternity pieces.  But not to worry... I'll be busting out my maternity wear soon when my baby belly grows even more.

pregnancy update:
week - 22
weight gain - 18 lbs... omg... :(
size of baby - about the size of a spaghetti squash
cravings - junk... just all sorts of junk

winter wish list

1. dress with leather frill // 2. short military coat // 3. lace trousers // 4. gathered shorts //5. peplum sweater // 6. cardigan with elbow patches // 7.sling backs

The weather here in Texas might not feel like winter (or fall really...), but a girl can still have a wish list ready.  I am pregnant right now, and probably will not be able to wear a lot of these things until next winter, but still, how cute are these items from Zara?  I want all 7, but my favorites have to be the dress, coat, and the shoes!!

Dotted

{blouse - jcrew love this one // jeans - 7 for all mankind // earrings - anthropologie // shoes - nine west}

Being pregnant, it's harder than I thought it would be to dress "cute" without looking frumpy.  I'm trying my hardest to stay away from maternity clothes as long as possible, and really, all I can come up with are loose blouses and flowly dresses.  Today, I give you this polka dotted jcrew blouse.  ps... I got a pretty drastic hair cut (6 inches off and bangs), but looking at these pictures, it doesn't look that different from before!

pregnancy update:
week - 21
gender - girl!
size of baby - length of a carrot
weight gain - I haven't weighed myself in awhile, but thinking 15 or more
cravings - chocolate and just a lot of junk food
movements - baby girl kicks once in awhile, mostly in the morning and night
Today, I also thought I'd add a couple of instagram pictures.  The very first The Coffee Bean opened in our area.  I tried their iced hazelnut latte (decaf) and it was just deeeee-licious!  Definitely going back there again.  Then the second picture is of my bb.  This Polo was from his grand daddy (my dad), and it was just too cute not to photograph!

I love fall

{ sweater - sold out similar // jeans - bdg // shoes - jcrew // bracelets - jcrew }
Happy Monday, everyone!  John, bb, and I have been doing a lot of fun fall activities like going to the state fair and visiting the local pumpkin patch.  Bb is only 19 months and still isn't aware of everything that's going around him, but we did get a lot of great photos from both of those activities.  Lugging around a 19 month old is not easy when 20 weeks pregnant, but I figure the experiences are worth it.

Pregnancy update:
week - 20
size of baby - the length of a banana
gender - girl!
what's she doing in there - learning to swallow and poo!
cravings - still nothing in particular
activities - lugging around my toddler and some light walking
weight gain - i'm thinking about 15lbs... yikes...!

DIY - quoted canvas

I might be getting a little too ahead of myself here, but I already completed a diy for baby girl's room.  I know I know... we still have 20 weeks to go, but I just couldn't wait to try this project.  I've never used a canvas before, but I love using paint for diys so I had a lot of fun making this.

BB has wall stickers with this same Bible verse in his room, so I thought I would use the same verse for baby girl's room.  Every good and perfect gift does come from above, after all!  :)
supplies:
-canvas
-some paint (I used 3 shades of orange and white - which will be the colors of baby girl's room)
-letter stickers
-stencil
-foam paint brushes
-reg. paint brush
-paint roller
steps:
1. paint the canvas using the foam brushes in everwhich way you want using the colorful paint
2. stick the stickers (make sure the paint is completely dry)
3. using the roller, paint the canvas (I used 3-4 coats) white
4-5. after the paint is completely dry, use an exacto knife to peel off the stickers
6. tape the stencil onto the canvas; use the reg. brush to paint with the stencil; peel the stencil off the canvas when paint is completely dry

That's it!  I also added a white ribbon onto the back of the canvas so that I can hang it on the wall.  This had to be one of the most fun projects I've done in awhile.  Enjoy!

What happened to fall...?

 {coat - laundry by shelli segal (this year's version) // chambray - gap (old) // top - jcrew // jeans - jcrew (old) // boots - nine west (old) similar // necklace - jcrew}

Only in Texas does the weather go from upper 80s to lower 50s within a day.  Whatever happened to fall, Texas?  We planned on going to the state fair this weekend, but the weather did not cooperate (hard with a toddler), so we stayed at home and did some organizing of furnitures and baby stuff.  Our bedroom is getting a make over (pictures coming soon), and I guess it wasn't a bad idea to spend the weekend at home doing what needed to be done.  But come on...!!  I miss the 70s and the 60s... :(

ps.  I didn't get this necklace for $228... It was on sale for $148 and with the extra 25%, it came out to be a little over $100.  John thought I should get it, although still pricy, to celebrate the fact that we'll be having a girl!

pregnancy update:
week: 19
weight gain: 13lbs.
cravings: nothing really
size of the baby: ~a large heirloom tomato
discomfort: lower back pain... :(

Gender Reveal! :D

Whoo hoo!  We're having a GIRL!!  I kept thinking this pregnancy felt just like the last and was expecting to find blue balloons flying out of the box (please excuse the heart that totally resembles a butt), but lookie lookie!  PINK!  John (my hubby) did such a great job surprising me.  I went to the doctor by myself Tuesday morning, told the sonographer to write down what it was, and brought the envelope to John.  He opened it in a room by himself and went to go purchase the balloons.  He acted like he wasn't surprised at all and was so nonchalant the whole day.  Tricky tricky!!  :)  He got me so good!  I usually hate surprises, but this one was just amazing.  I didn't think I wanted a girl so much, but I guess I did, because look at my face!!  I'm totally over the moon and already am thinking of how to decorate her nursery and all the DIYs I can do before she arrives.  I'm such a blessed girl!  Thank you, Jesus!!  <3

JCREWed out

 {sweater - jcrew // skirt - jcrew (old) // socks - jcrew // boots - nine west // bracelets - jcrew // earrings - anthropologie}
So, as you can tell from previous posts, I'm pretty obsessed with jcrew.  Well, I wouldn't say obsessed, but I am pretty much in love with the entire store.  I remember when I was in high school, all the 'cool' kids used to wear jcrew, and I never really even knew what it was.  Well, I know what it is now and am loving it!!  Love you, whoever created this beautiful store!!

ps... gender reveal coming Friday!!  ;)

Rain, rain, stay awhile

 {dress - old navy // button down - old navy // socks - forever21 // boots - hunter (similar) // necklace -  jcrew
After so many months of drought, we finally got some rain here.  When I purchased these boots during the nordstrom anniversary sale, my dad told me I need to pray for rain so that I can wear them... that's how bad of a drought it was this summer.  Well, dad, it rained a bunch the last couple of days and I finally got to wear these babies out in public!  :)  It's the little things that make us happy, isn't it!?
