Pink pants

For a girl who claims pink is not one of her favorite colors, I sure do have a lot of it in my closet...!  I like to think of myself as a 'tom-boy', but maybe I'm not one... maybe I'm just another girlie girl who likes frills, lace, and pink!  (ugh it hurts to even type this)  Well, I might not be into frills, but I am loving neon pink this summer; the color alone makes the outfit more fun.

By the way, enjoy the last day of June, everyone!  Cannot believe it's July tomorrow!!!

Five

For today's five, I decided to search the web for some designer items to lust after.  I consider myself pretty frugal, and usually go straight for the sale section in stores.  Since this is my blog and I can post about whatever I want, (and it won't empty my wallet) here is an outfit I'm lusting for at the moment.   Aren't the skirt and the sunglasses just beautiful!?  Here is to wishful thinking!  Happy Friday, everyone!!

Banana nutella wonton pockets

I'm not really into baking desserts from scratch.  I'm all about taking the easy way out when it comes to baking.  I found a similar recipe to this on pinterest, (of course) but they used puff pastry.  I don't keep puff pastry in my fridge, but I sometimes do have wonton paper.  So with those, I made these incredibly easy and tasty dessert!  Enjoy!!
steps:  *turn the oven to 350*
1. in one wonton paper, spoon about a tsp of nutella and a small (very small) slice of banana.
2. using water and the tip of your fingers, seal the paper in half
3 & 4. using a little more water, fold and pinch the 2 side edges to the top

place the cookie sheet into the oven for 15 min and you're done!!

'love' frames

I have no idea where I saw these frames being sold, but I'm thinking it was somewhere on etsy.  When I saw them, I knew I had an easy DIY, and got started on it immediately.  Since we don't have much decoration in our bedroom, they would go perfect on one of the walls.  I mixed and matched the colors of the scrapbook paper just to give it something different and bought the super affordable frames from ikea.  ($19/frame)
steps:
1. fold the scrapbook paper into 1/4 and write the letters backwards; cut
2. paint the board on the back of the frames with whatever color you would like
3. when the paint is completely dried, tape the letters to the board
4. put the boards back into the frames and you're done!!

Anchor(s) away

As I have mentioned, summer is here and here to stay for awhile! I'm in the mood for fresh fruit, water activities, and bright colored accessories.  This little cotton dress that I totally scored from Jcrew (originally $98, got it for $27!!) is the perfect summer dress.  It has long sleeves, but once rolled up, it doesn't really bother me, and I just adore the little anchor and the zipper (on both sides) detail.  Pair this with my bright neon pink sandles, and I'm ready for some summer fun!

ps.  this post marks my 100th post!  I can't believe I have one hundred posts already!!!  Blogging has been so much fun, and I'm still learning.  Thank you so so much for taking the time to read my posts, you gals/guys!  Much much love!! <3  Here are some of your favorite posts out of the 100:

old navy

Anybody else shop at old navy?  I really never used to shop there until I had bb, but there are some pretty decent basics for very affordable prices!  Their baby clothes are decent, and I totally scored on this maxi skirt recently.  This gray v-neck was purchased awhile ago for less than $10 and the maxi was $19!!  This necklace I'm wearing costs more than the whole outfit, but I love this necklace too much to complain.

Happy summer, everyone!
I don't know about where you live, but here in Texas, the summer sun is
blazing every single day!  Although it is hot hot hot, we just have to make
the best of it.  John and I still take bb on walks every evening (when able),
and are trying to get bb used to the pool.  For today's five, I thought I'd make
a list of what I would like to do/accomplish during these hot months.

July wish list

On Tuesday's post, I mentioned that I'm making a shopping list for myself.  The purpose of this is so that I don't just buy whatever looks good to me that day when I'm shopping.  Random and spontaneous shopping is fun, but it's just not very budget friendly.  So here are the things on my wish list for July.  I just thought of this idea, so let's see if I stick to the list!  :)

jcrew classic pave link bracelet // anthropologie two tone drop earrings // zara trousers // jcrew copy bubble necklace // benefit eye creme // ikea desk // fifty shades of grey - book (fiction) //

Who wears short shorts?

So, here are the white cutoffs I mentioned in this post.  I am loving white lately since the weather has been hotter than a humanly summer should be.  I'm still looking for some affordable white skinny jeans... I also started something new!  I'm making myself a shopping list of things I want to buy for myself for each month.  No more shopping in June... but for July, the list is already so long I'm not sure I can fit those white jeans in.  We'll see next month...

One toe at a time...

The title for today's post sounds a little odd, but these shoes are killing my feet, one toe at a time!  Sadly, I am still in love with these shoes because they're very versatile, and I got them at a pretty good price.  (Also worn here) But my goodness, both of my pinkies are bandaged up from some tiny, but very painful blisters!  Why do I keep wearing these...?  Like I tell my friends, I tend to choose style over comfort, (hence the almost long sleeve jacket in this TX heat! ahhhh!!) and I'm sure this won't be the last time you'll see me in them!

Flower-ish print

When I shop, I usually tend to attract towards solid colors, but I found this dress 2 years ago on sale for $19.99 and could not pass it up!  I'm not quite sure what these are, but I'm thinking they're supposed to mimic flowers of some sort...?  This cardigan was also purchased at the same time as this dress, and since then, they have been inseperable!  They're what you call bffs... :)

 {time to myself during the day... a cold bottle of tea and informative read}

John and I are having such a wonderful time with bb lately.  He's showing more of his personality by reacting more to what you are saying and what you want him to do.  Short tantrums and little bumps & bruises come along lately too because he's more active and is more aware of what he wants/doesn't want.  Thus, the book above and a couple of more books that I'm currently reading on child rearing.  In the midst of all of this, I have to remember who I am by myself without the baby.  Yes, I am a mommy, but I also am just a 28year old who still is figuring things out in life.  There is a happy medium, and I'm in the journey to find it.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks a bunch for visiting!  Oh, and it's Father's day in 2 days!   Be good to your daddies, everyone!  :)

 {my new kitchen mitts from anthropologie...  on sale $7/mitt!  score!!!}
 {how cute are these little toms?  my little bb in cutoff shorts and toms}
 {my kind of a french manicure... with sparkles and neon colors}
{kind of reminds me of grandma's house, but I'm loving my new tea cup set}

Corn chip crusted cod

I've been trying to recreate fried dishes into healthier baked dishes.  For this chicken dish, I used cornmeal to make the crust crispy like it would on fried chicken, but on this fish, I used some smashed up corn tortilla chips along with a little flour and spices.  Super healthy and delicious!!  John told me to put on the post that it was a complete hit with the boys!  :)
Ingredients:
-2lbs. of cod
-1 egg
-1 lemon (zest and juice)
-couple handfuls of tortilla chips (i used multigrain)
-1/2 cup of flour
-pinch of salt and black pepper
-1tbs of dried cilantro (it's mostly for esthetics)
-2 tbs of toasted seseme seeds
-3 tbs of olive oil

Steps:
-preheat oven to 425 deg
-prepare 2 plates for wet and dry ingredients
-zest the lemon into the dry plate
-juice the lemon into the wet plate
-crack the egg into the wet plate
-put the chips into a ziploc bag, seal, and smash!!
-combine the smashed chips, flour, salt & pepper, cilantro, and seseme seeds into the dry plate
-dredge the fish one by one into the wet then transfer into dry
-drizzle the olive oil onto the fish
-place them into the oven for 20 minutes
-enjoy!  (I served mine with herbed potato salad)

Organized spice containers

My spice cabinet isn't the most horrific space I've ever seen, but it does not quite make me happy when I open it.  So, I came up with a solution to a happier and a much attractive spice space.  The container store has these jars with magnets on the bottom (3 for ~$6).  The labels are printed from my computer.  I figured I would attach a sheet metal to the door of the cabinets, but instead, I just stuck them on the side of the fridge.  I actually love them there!  The former spice cabinet still has flour, sugar, and salt, but now it definitely has more room for utensils that I didn't want to put out for everyone to see.  I have to say, this is the easiest DIY I've shown you on this blog.
